This paper presents a cardioid radiation pattern antenna composed of a trapezoidal cavity antenna and a monopole element. Antenna characteristics are examined by using MoM analysis. Cardioid pattern is synthesized when the relative excitation amplitude and phase of the monopole are 0.6 and 90$^\circ$ to the cavity antenna. Cardioid pattern is also obtained by a single feed antenna consisting of the cavity antenna with parasitic monopole element. Measured characteristics of the proposed antenna are also presented.
